  • Will Jiu Jitsu help with my child’s focus or behavior?
    Yes. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is excellent for improving focus, discipline, emotional control, and self-esteem — on and off the mat.
  • Can girls join the Kids BJJ program?
    Absolutely! Our classes are inclusive and welcoming to everyone. We have many girls training and thriving on the mats.
  • How long are classes and how often are they offered?
    Classes are 45 minutes and run multiple times per week. You can view our updated schedule or ask us for current class times.
  • What age can my child start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
    Children can start as young as 4 years old. Our classes are age-appropriate and focus on foundational movement, confidence, and fun.
  • Does my child need prior experience?
    Not at all! Most kids start as beginners. Our instructors are great at working with first-time students and building confidence step by step.
  • Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu safe for kids?
    Yes. Our kids program emphasizes safety, respect, and technique — not aggression. Classes are structured, supervised, and fun.
  • What should my child wear to their first class?
    If they don’t have a gi yet, that’s no problem — we’ll loan one for the free trial. Just bring comfortable athletic clothes, a water bottle, and a smile!
  • Do you offer a free trial class?
    Yes! We offer a free trial class for all new students, and we also provide a loaner gi (uniform) for your child to wear during the trial.
  • Can I watch a class before enrolling?
    Yes! You're welcome to observe a class or trial from the seating area. We encourage it so you and your child feel fully comfortable.
  • Do you offer women’s classes?
    We do not have women-only classes, but all of our classes are welcoming and inclusive for women.
  • Are drop-ins welcome? How much is a drop-in class, and can I wear my own gi?
    Yes, every drop-in is welcome—no need to ask in advance! Drop-in classes are $30, with an additional $10 if you need to rent a gi. You’re welcome to train in your own gi, any color, and from any team.
  • Do I need to be in shape to start Jiu Jitsu?
    No! You don’t need to be in shape to start. Beginners focus on learning technique, and you’ll naturally build fitness as you train.
  • Is there parking available?
    Yes, we have on-site parking for students and visitors. There is also street parking available behind the building.
  • What should I wear and bring for my first class?
    Come in comfortable athletic clothes without zippers or metal. We have gis available for you to borrow during your free trial class. If you already have a gi, you're welcome to wear it. Bring a water bottle and a positive attitude!
  • What if I have injuries or health concerns?
    Please let your instructor know before class. We’ll help you train safely and modify exercises as needed.
  • What age can kids start BJJ?
    Kids can start as young as 4 years old.

    Classes start with a warm-up, followed by technique instruction, drilling, and optional live sparring (rolling).

    Yes! We offer a free trial for all new students. It’s a great way to experience the environment, meet our instructors, and start learning the basics of Jiu Jitsu with no pressure.
  • How do I get started?
    It’s easy! Click the “Book a Free Trial” button on this page, or contact us directly with any questions. We’ll get you set up for your first class!
  • Do I need to be in shape to start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
    No! You don’t need to be in peak shape to start. Our classes are designed to meet you at your current fitness level, and you’ll naturally build strength, endurance, and mobility over time.
  • What’s the structure of a typical class?
    Classes usually start with a warm-up, followed by technique instruction, drilling, and (optional) live sparring (rolling). Every session is structured to help you progress safely.
  • Can I train even if I have no martial arts experience?
    Absolutely. Most of our adult students started with no prior martial arts background. Our beginner curriculum is specifically designed to make your transition onto the mats smooth and enjoyable.
  • What should I wear for my first class?
    Wear comfortable athletic clothing (like a t-shirt and shorts with no zippers). We have gis available to loan for your free trial if needed.
  • Do you offer no-gi classes?
    Yes! We offer both gi and no-gi classes throughout the week. Both styles are available to all students.
  • Am I too old to start Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
    Not at all! We have students of all ages, including people starting in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond. BJJ is about technique, not just strength or youth.
  • How often should I train per week?
    We recommend beginners start with 2–3 classes per week to build a solid foundation and allow your body to adjust.
  • Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu safe for beginners?
    Yes. Safety is a top priority at Liberdade BJJ. Our instructors focus on teaching proper technique and control, ensuring all training partners respect each other's learning pace.
  • Are beginners welcome?
    Absolutely. We specialize in helping first-timers feel confident on the mat. Whether you're brand new to martial arts or trying Jiu-Jitsu for the first time, you'll be welcomed with patience and support.
  • Do I need to be in shape to start?
    Not at all. Our classes are beginner-friendly and designed to meet you where you are — no matter your current fitness level. Many of our students start with zero experience, and our instructors will guide you at your own pace.
  • Do you loan gis for free trials?
    Yes, we do. We'll provide a clean gi for your trial class at no extra charge. You don’t need to buy anything up front — just show up and we’ll take care of the rest.
  • What should I bring to my first class?
    Just bring comfortable workout clothes, a bottle of water, and a positive attitude! If you have a gi, great — if not, we’ve got you covered (see below).
  • Can I bring my own gi?
    Yes! If you already have a gi (Jiu-Jitsu uniform), feel free to wear it. Just make sure it’s clean and in good condition. No gi? No problem.
